2010 marks the celebration of Spade Kitty's fifteenth anniversary, as the label commemorates it in a variety of exciting ways, including the launch of this brand new website! Spade Kitty is also running special sales, including this month's "pay what you want" special on the brand new Hop On Pop album (details below)

The revamped site has all the usual bells and whistles, such as artist info and shows. The major change is that we've broken out our store into two sections: one that provide links to purchase mp3s via Itunes, and one that sells regular old compact discs.

As far as actual news goes....

the live series at legendary Fitzgerald's Night Club in Berwyn has swelled in size and scope to command a regular monthly slot, usually on the third Thursday of every month. In March, Spade Kitty Night is happening on the 18th. The crowds have swelled...Spade Kitty Night at Fitzgerald's now is one of the top drawing weeknight events for local bands in the area and was recently highlighted all over the local press, including a feature article in Pioneer Press.

The label's roster artists are also very busy, mostly recording and mixing, but also playing live. Hop on Pop as just completed and released Sophomore effort Chicken on a Bicycle on February 18th, which is available in all formats from our store and Itunes. The physical version is currently on sale in our store, and you can pay any price from $1 to $10 for the disc for a limited time! Newest label signatory Roxy Swain releases their full-length "The Spell of Youth" on March 18th, on the heels of the acclaimed debut EP "New Love Designers". They are also planning another release for this summer, a 7" single of two brand new songs.A second album is also in the works for The Red Plastic Buddha, provisionally titled "All Out Revolution" and spanning ten tracks. Tracking has even been simultaneously opened on a subsequent four song EP to be released shortly afterward. Ambitious as ever, the project plans on many new undertakings in 2010 but will primarily focus on tracking these two efforts. Trakan has just completed a live preview of his forthcoming EP release "Powder Kegs Beneath Dagger Trees", which will be available just after the new year, as well as four fanclub only singles. The Pralines are in the middle of overdubs on a new album as well, but spent most of 2009 on a whirlwind touring circuit that took them all over the midwest through Wisconsin, Ohio and Texas. Paper Airplane Pilots have completed the writing and arranging for their third LP, and are shopping around for a studio to track the album at as we speak.

Last but not least, Spade Kitty has also opened up a distribution arm, which will encompass a broader range of untapped local talent, but focuses on releases by The Get and Heather Perry and the _______'s for now.
